If you, like many of us, have struggled with how to cite electronic references properly in APA style, there is now help at hand. Hackney Library has recently purchased access to a supplement to the 6th edition of the APA Publication Manual that provides many more examples of how to cite a variety of electronic sources.
The supplement, called The APA Style Guide to Electronic References, 6th Edition, is available in print format on reserve at Hackney Library’s circulation desk. But even better, it’s also available online to the Barton community. (The document, which is in PDF format, requires the free, downloadable Adobe Acrobat Reader to view.)
Links to the document are available on the library’s web site under the “Citation Tips and Tools” link under the “Instruction” button on the sidebar of the library’s home page, as well as being available for instructors to post to their Campus Connect classes online. The document is accessible to the Barton community from on campus, as well as from off campus with a Barton network login.
Please note, though, that as required by APA licensing restrictions, individuals may print a copy for their sole use only; it is not permissible to distribute the document to others in any format.
So take advantage of this fantastic tool to format your APA Style citations for electronic sources! Questions or trouble accessing the document? Please contact the reference desk at 252-399-6502 for assistance.
