Over the summer, the NetLibrary collection of electronic books that Hackney Library accesses via NCLIVE moved to a new platform powered by EBSCO, the vendor of many of our other NCLIVE products. The new name for the former NetLibrary collections is “eBooks on EBSCOhost.” All references on our web site to the collection now reflect the new name.
EBSCO recently bought the NetLibrary collection, and the new platform looks very similar to that of the other EBSCO article databases (such as Academic Search Premier, CINAHL, PsycArticles, MLA, etc.), to which we already had access.
With the new ebook platform comes not just a new look, but new functionality as well, including the following: Browsing by subject and genre; a personal folder option to save and view ebooks; the ability to save notes on ebooks to your personal folder; search features that will allow you to search across ebooks and other EBSCOhost content; and an enhanced viewer for examining ebooks. As in the past, these e-books are available from on campus, and, with a Barton login, from off campus as well.
Former NetLibrary ebooks now on the eBooks on EBSCOhost platform will still continue to be searchable and viewable through the Barton Library catalog.
If you have any questions about or problems accessing ebooks through the new platform, please call the reference desk at 252-399-6502 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
