QR Codes Connect to New Reference Chat

Image of the QR code that connects to Hackney Library's reference chat.If you’ve visited Hackney Library in the last month or so, you may have noticed the presence of unusual-looking black-and-white square graphics posted at various tables and carrels in the library.

No, they’re not Egyptian hieroglyphics; instead, they are “Quick Recognition” (QR) codes that act something like a barcode when smart phones are passed over them. The QR codes connect smart phone users directly to the new live chat session tool with Hackney Library reference librarians.

The QR codes are another way for library faculty to connect users directly to reference help anonymously, wherever they may be in the library building.

So if you have a smart phone, wave it over a QR code on your next library visit, and give our new reference service a try!
